The Greasers vs. the Socs

The two main gangs in the book, the greasers and the Socs, have many diffrences in both apperances and values. For example, as shown on pg.1 par.I, Ponyboy, like many others in his neighborhood, had long hair held back by grease. Socs, on the other hand, wore usually madra shirts and desighner jeans. Also, as shown on pg. 2 par. 2-3, most greasers were poor and had to work full time for just a third-class living style. Socs, however, live first-class. (see pg. 3 par. 1.) Another differance between them is that the greasers do crimes for themselves, while Socs love to do it just for kicks, as seen on pg.38. Bassicly, when it come down to it, these two groups are born to fight eachother.

We all know that the fifth commandment is: thou shall not kill. With that in mind, tell me what you whould think and what you would do if you were Johnny.

Well, if I was in Johnny's shoes, I would probably feel terrably guilty about the situation. I probably would not easily get over this, but I know it was only in self defence. However, I would at least try to find a suitable place for the body before I left. However, after that was done, I would immediatly try to cover up any traces that would lead to me. First off, I would cut off my hair and change it's color so that I wouldn't match any wanted poster. Then, I would leave the area for a few weeks, until the news blows over. Only then could I take a breather.
~ You really think that is a solution to this mess? I guess I thought my students would realize they have more resources available to them. How long do you think it would take for a murder to 'blow over'?

Explain what Ponyboy finds out about Rodger and the other Socs in chapter 7.

After Ponyboy's dicussion with Rodger, he figures out that everybody, rich or not, are still the same. For example, while the Greasers have the problem with lack of money and education, while the Socs have the problem of no respaonsibilities and peer presure from society itself! Also, when Jhonney was put into the hosptial, all the Greasers cared and did everythink they could to make him feel better. When Bob died, Rodger and Cherry mourned for him and wanted to prevent any more fighting. Although they may come from different families, social classes, and places, both the Greasers and the Socs are the same. This is the lesson Ponyboy learned.
